Miracles of life

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:36 am

My lovebirds recently had babies. It was very unintentional, at least on our part! We knew one of them was a girl, and believed our other one was a female as well. I was cleaning the tray in their cage last week, and heard a little cheeping. I opened their roosting box. My adults weren’t making the noise, so I scooted them aside. I nearly had a heart attack! Three naked, rather funny looking little things. Puppies are so much more attractive than chicks when born. After I got over the shock, I started getting excited. I feel this pride and joy that my pets had babies, even though it was a surprise. I realized this is probably how Steve feels when one of his dogs have puppies! (although he plans for it to happen and does expect their coming) We’re going to keep one or two of the chicks, like Steve keeps pups from time to time. It’s so fun, and getting to watch babies grow up is amazing! I suppose you have to like tiny, noisy babies, though, because my husband isn’t as thrilled as I am with the new additions!

Puppies bring a ray of sunshine to a crazy day. They can immediately put a smile on your face just by looking at them. They do not talk back because all they want is your attention and love. And that is what little man (Cora’s pup) really wants, and basically what he wants he gets. That puppy actually gets spoiled very spoiled, he gets carried around while we do odd end jobs. He is a very cute and cuddly pup, one reward we get daily is to cuddle with them and watch them sleep while in our arms.

Have you ever wondered how it would be to be a dog, a mother and never know what is coming to you when they have puppies especially their first litter, at first they seem to know whats going on but then they are curious. They have the basic instincts as a human mother does with their new born. Dogs are very smart creatures with also proper guidelines. Puppies are curious by nature, while they are awake it is their job to test the waters and learn small things that their brains are able to hold. They also need special attention since they are puppies! Puppies love you no matter what, you could burn dinner and they wouldn’t care. Doberman pups and adult dogs have very big hearts all you have to do is look into their eyes and you can see unconditional love. And a plus is that they are so cute especially when they learn to give you the puppy dog eyes all I can do is laugh and give them attention, And watching them play with each other is something else and some of the facial expressions they make while playing is adorable.

Some of the things that I have watched and experimented with my Doberman puppy is that he loves to mimic things you do, for instance he loves to watch my oldest dobe fluff her blanket or pillow. Trust me she has a certain way to fluff it, when she is done he tries it with the only pillow or blanket that she is not laying on and it is really cute to watch him flip around like she does. He also loves to try and dance which was something he just started to do one day while playing music. Dobes have this awesome spunk about them and you just truly do not see it until you have one of your own. At times they are so indescribable but yet so special to you at the same time. Doberman puppies are very sweet and can give you a fulfilling life that you never understood.

Dobermans and life

The other day, as I was driving home, I saw a guy on a skateboard. What made this interesting is that a Doberman was pulling him along, like a sled dog! You could tell that the dog loved doing this. She had a doggy smile, tongue hanging out, energy in every step as they sped along. Dogs are very much “in the moment.” Yesterday and tomorrow are not important. This Doberman was so happy, exercising and being outside with her person. It was a joy to see!

Zenny… He’s so good with puppies. He doesn’t just tolerate them, he plays with them. As such, I ask him to “babysit” the older puppies a lot. The little Cora boy pup is all alone now, his siblings all gone. Sometimes he cries, so if I don’t have time to play, I put him in with Zenny. Sometimes I get this long-suffering look, complete with eyes that say, “Why me?” But then he lays down and lets the puppy chew on his collar and ears. When he’s outside with puppies, he comes in with his sides coated in mud from the pups jumping up on him. Good ol’ Zenny, deals with all the energy and sharp little teeth, but gets to know his kids as well!

Doberman Puppy updates

It’s hard to imagine that Coco’s pups will be ready for their new homes in two weeks, ready to face the world outside. They’re so very small still, teetering around on wobbly legs, gnawing on shoes and mom’s ears. Earlier, Coco was working on a bone that’s longer than my forearm, and the boy pup was trying to help. Soon, though, he seemed to get this look on his face, and I imagined him thinking, “I don’t get it,” and went after some milk.
Gypsy’s remaining boy pup has an obstacle course in his kennel. He jumps over and chews apart the paper towel tubes and empty boxes. I think most of the time doges are more impressed with and interested in the simple, inexpensive “toys” we throw out. Of only we were as easily entertained!

The newest red Doberman puppies are just the cutest things. They are just starting to get their teeth in and starting to play, it’s so funny to watch how clumsy they are. I enjoy watching them come and chew on my shoes, it’s great to see them get more and more active every day! I’m going to miss them when they come of age to be sold.

Congratulations!

We were very blessed to have some of friends from Boston (Who run a classy Lingerie Shop http://bloomlingerieboutique.com/) come out with their Coco X Uragan puppy and train with us for one week. Little “Ruza” was a star student in both obedience and protection and was intorduced to scent work for the first time. What a joy it was to train with all of them! We also had a great time this Summer with Bella and her owner from Denver (we can’t tell you what she does or she would have to kill you), and with Kimi and her owner from www.greenthumblandscapes.com We always welcome our Family Dobes family to come train with us for private lessons or in our clubs and we hope to see some more of you! Here is a link to some of hte fun we have had with these great folks

We also want to send out a big congratulations to Melanie and Sierra (Ruby X Uragan) who just passed their Therapy dog exam, and are doing a great job in Schutzhund with the tri-state Doberman club. Melanie is one of the youngest Schutzhund handlers I have known, but with great Support and coaching from her whole club, she is a gifted and very talented young handler and trainer. Congratulaitons to the whole FamilyDobes clan at Tri State Doberman.

Well the weather has changed, parts of the country are just seeing relief from the heat of summer and others have seen their first frost. We are grateful to be enjoying a beautiful Autumn complete with crisp air and fall colors. If you are like us and have cool temperatures you need to start watching exposure times when the dogs are outside. Make sure they still have plenty of fresh water, and a way to warm up when they have been outside. Keep in mind dry dogs can stay warm, wet dogs have a hard time keeping their core temperature.  As Halloween approaches you need to give some thought to your great Dobermans. With the tradition of trick or treat, you have to think that all kinds of sounds and sights may be surprising or even frightening to your Doberman. This could be a problem for the dog and the little monsters. Help keep everyone happy by making safe and responsible provisions for your great Doberman. Also many people don’t know that pumpkin can be quite beneficial to dogs, and there is abundant pumpkin this time of year. Pumpkin seed can be a natural anti-parasitic, and pumpkin puree can be used to reduce calorie intake on overweight dogs. It gives a feeling of Satiety and is not very calorie dense. Have a safe and wonderful Autumn!
