Power Outage

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:47 am

Nothing like a brief power outage to let you know how bad human senses are compared to dogs. I blindly tried to let the dobermans out to potty, tripping over everything while they lead the way, knowing exactly where to go, not at all hindered by the dark. They didn’t even seem to notice the difference when the lights came back on.

Lavina de Grande Vinko

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:30 pm

Lavina is a high spirited doberman, but normally she’s pretty good when I’m working. She’s always happy to see me in the morning and gives me a big grin. But this is nothing compared to when Mr. Parson enters the kennel. She adores him so much she just can’t contain herself, she never fails to try to get his attention, even if she knows she’ll get in trouble for it. She just needs to say good morning to her favorite person in the world.

Efficient eating

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:58 am

I think it’s so funny that Lola’s blue stripe has to eat lying down. Every time I put the dish in, he walks over and starts eating, but ever so slowly he sinks to the ground still munching away, and just lays there comfortably. I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen any of the dobermans here do that.

Dobermans and Water

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:34 pm

Orange in Lola’s litter loves water. I believe that later in her life she will be a dog that enjoys being out in the water. When giving her a bath she is relaxed and content with trying to eat the water as it showers down upon her.

Pink in Penny’s litter is a diva there is no doubt about that. She dislikes taking a bath even when it is for her own good. She does enjoy sporting fashion statements since her new way of drinking water has led her to eat her food that way also. And she believes that if you are not holding her constantly then you should be.

Time moves too quickly

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:38 am

It’s crazy how quickly puppies grow up. It’s hard to imagine the tiny helpless newborn will someday be a big doberman. Though it happens faster than I’d expect. I was there when little Maddie was born, now she’s a teenager. It didn’t seem that long ago that she was running around my feet, unable to reach any higher than my knee.

Too Cute

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:14 am

Usually in the middle of the night, you look into the kennel, and all the puppies are sound asleep. But as soon as there is the clank of food against a dish, suddenly you have many bright little eyes watching you. Amazing how quickly they can suddenly be wide awake.

It wasn’t me

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:14 am

It’s funny how smart dogs really are. Texa knowing full well that she’s not supposed to bark in the kennel, always sits quietly when you’re watching. But then as soon as I go into the other room that quickly changes. When I open the door again, she stops right away and makes the cutest face she can, cocking her head to the side, and folding back her ears as if saying: “It wasn’t me. I wouldn’t do that.”
