Making a difference

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:20 pm

11/28/11 -Today was pretty great, the smallest pup in Ruby’s litter is nursing really well now. It feels great to know that I have helped the little guy out. Another thing that I liked about today is the fact that Coco seems to remember me and is always happy to see me.

and they wiggle….

Celeste has so many puppies! They’re getting bigger and better at walking. When they’re all awake and playing, it looks like a carpet of wiggling cuteness.
Ruby’s puppies have already taken to “traveling,” where they scoot to different places on the floor. They don’t seem to have any particular destination in mind, they can end up in the corner, snuggled next to you, or scooting around mom in an arch, like a car around a mountain.

The cuteness begins

One of the little male puppies in Celeste’s litter I absolutely adore! He is as cute as a button nose, no one can help but adore him. Oddly enough at this age he is already trying to grab a hold of you with his two little front paws and growling :)

Doberman Struggles

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:15 am

11/26/11 -One of my favorite things about working here the past has been when a puppy is not doing well and I try really hard to get it to nurse and it does and starts doing better. It really makes me feel like I have done something good in the world, that because of me a life has been preserved, and that puppy has a chance to live.

11/27/11 -Today was especially great, Ruby is doing a lot better as far as staying calm, and letting her pups nurse. It brings a smile to my face see the small pups who struggled a bit to nurse at first, nursing healthily. All in all today was a good day.

Little sounds

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:05 pm

Amazing how attentive Ruby has suddenly become over the puppies. Every little sound they make she up and checking on them to see if they are alright. She always wants them with her, and loves to groom them like crazy. Such a loving mother, maybe a little to loving haha. I’ve never really known Ruby to be one for the cuddly type, at least not with me. But last night shew as always wanting to be in my lap, snuggling her head against me. It was really cute.

New Moms

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:05 pm

I am surprised by how good of a mom Kimi is being. She’s never had puppies before, and usually first time moms have problems laying down and letting the babies nurse. But she’s been very good. she’s always laying down, eager to feed her babies. Her puppies are also very fat, When they were first born they were bigger than Celeste’s babies who were older than hers were.

Changes

11/23/11 -Ruby’s puppies are doing well despite her getting up all of the time. One thing that I thought was really cute was one of the puppies had its mouth over another pup’s face trying to suck out milk. haha it was pretty funny.

11/24/11 -Things are going well, Kimi and Celest are great moms and take great care of their pups. I went outside and played with Madea for a few minutes, she is so cute and playful, and I’m quickly falling in love with her personality.

11/25/11 -Things are still going rather smoothly, not having a laptop or any electronics makes it a much different environment, I feel like I’m really bonding with the dogs. Mainly Celest, Kimi, and Ruby.
I’ll be sitting on the floor in the kennel, and she will lay next to me and lay her head on my leg and go to sleep. I didn’t realize how much she liked to cuddle.

Happy to be here

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:12 am

It’s been awhile since Ruby’s had a litter. Four brand new babies in the kennel. And man are they alive, pretty much making as much noise as possible, even when they are eating. Guess they must just be excited to be here.

Learning from the Master Teachers: Dobermans

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:43 am

Dobermans teach us things. They teach us how to love better, how to play hard and work even harder. They teach us how to smile at the little things and not take life for granted. They show us how to live in the moment, and help us learn to control our anger. They teach us about devotion and commitment, and they remind us we’re not alone in this world. They teach us about patience, obedience and that a little dirt never hurt anyone. They show us how to face our fears and fight for what we believe. Dobermans teach us things, we just have to listen.

Snow Dobermans

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:09 am

Last night was one of the first heavy snows of the season. Normally the dogs are super happy to go outside in the morning, but on snowy days they crowd by the door, and refuse to go out. I had to give them a nudge to get them to go out to potty. That is everyone but Pris. As soon as I opened the door she dashed out and began bounding through the snow like it was her best day ever. She ran up and down the yard till she was black and white instead of black and tan.
