Weaning Doberman Puppies

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:27 am

You can always tell when the puppies are getting to that age when they are about to be weened. It’s when you are feeding mom breakfast, and she has to fend off all the intruders fighting to get into her bowl. Celeste’s babies are coming to that age, and she has a lot of them she’s got to ward off. It’s kind of funny to watch.

Mom’s

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:18 am

It’s always nice when the moms you are sitting with don’t force themselves upon you. Needing your constant attention, and wriggling across the floor to get it. That’s what I appreciate about Ruby. She’s a little more subtle when she want’s your attention. You’ll be doing something next to her, ignoring her, and instead of crawling into your lap, she’ll kind of put her head close to you, then just stare at you until you notice her. It’s kind of funny. Last night as I was helping puppies nurse, spacing out, I finally glanced in Ruby’s direction to find her face right next to mine, waiting intently for me to see her. She wouldn’t back off till I stroked her head. It made me laugh.

Doberman Puppies

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:11 am

I feel like we’ve had an explosion of puppies! With more on the way! I guess I’ve started realizing since most of them are up and walking around now. It’s crazy, Celeste had a big litter of 11 puppies. Kimi has a litter of nine puppies. Ruby has four. And Coco has one. That’s 25 babies! It’s really fun to look into the mom kennels and see all the puppies crawling around on unsteady legs. Especially Celeste’s, there’s no escaping them now, their eyes are wide open, and they can walk now haha.
